Thank you to everyone who signed the local Conservatives petition to save the 66 and 66A bus routes. Local Conservatives presented this petition to the Labour run integrated transport authority (ITA) (on which a Kingstanding Labour Councillor is a member of the controlling group) and popular local Cllr Robert Alden held meetings to try and preserve the bus routes. This has led to the bus services being saved however the Labour run ITA have agreed to the route being changed. This means the 66 will now no longer go to Tesco at New Oscott, Boldmere or Sutton Town Centre. This means that the bus will not get people to the shops and doctors which is what made the route so helpful in the first place. Following our campaign the 66 A has been saved and will continue to go to Sutton.
Robert said “we are continuing to lobby National Express and Centre about trying to have the Sutton leg of the 66 journey restored as it is needed by local residents”.
