During the summer a number of people started sleeping rough, dumping rubbish and taking drugs at the back of the Erdington Swimming Pool Leisure Centre. Popular local Cllr's Robert Alden, Gareth Moore and Bob Beauchamp met with staff of the Leisure Centre and local Police to discuss the issues at the rear of the Centre. It was agreed that the area would be cleared up and gates installed to make the area secure.
The gates have now been installed, the litter, boxes, cans and drug evidence have all been cleared away and the area is now secure.
Cllr Robert Alden said "the area is now secure so that users and staff at the leisure centre will now be safe when using the site at night. In addition the removal of people using the back of the site will help protect the building in the future, similar cases of rough sleeping led to St Barnabas Church being set fire to a number of years ago".

Robert and Gareth are pictured testing the new gates, Gareth inspecting the site now it is clean and Robert looking at the problem earlier in the year.
