As you know, I have been working over the past two years with the Council, the Environment Agency and the local Friends of Witton Lakes Group to improve Witton Lakes and the surrounding areas. The first phase of this work is going on now and it will lead to big improvements for Short Heath Brook that runs through Bleak hill Recreation Ground.
Residents who live nearby will know that the brook is not particularly clean (often smells) and is not attractive in places. The work being carried out now will improve its appearance as well as improve water quality, which will mean that the smell should disappear.
Having cleaner water will then benefit Witton Lakes and Brookvale Park. More work is planned in Witton Lakes to benefit both the users and the wildlife, including improvements to paths and a breed bed in one of the lakes. I will update you on these developments as And when they occur.
