The Labour run Council has announced that £75,000 will be taken from the budget Erdington has to fund local groups and improvements. This is 60% of the budget.
Cllr Robert Alden said “this is a disgraceful attack on Erdington, further proof that Labour couldn’t care less about trying to support OUR community.” The Council has managed to find millions extra to spend next year on their pet projects, tens of millions for the Leaders budget and have refused to save anything from the £2.2 million spent on Diversity and European officers. Many of the projects funded this year through Erdington’s Community Budget are now at risk for example, youth work funded on the Lyndhurst and Court Farm estates, community street scene improvements and the public toilets at Erdington library that were kept open with funding secured from the Community Chest last year.
