Gareth is originally from the Kingstanding area and has strong connections to North Birmingham. A proud brummie, he attended the University of Birmingham where he developed his interest in politics and the Conservative Party. He combined this with his desire to serve the local community that he grew up in, and so chosen to represent the Erdington ward in 2011.

Before becoming a Councillor, Gareth worked as an administrator for Merlin Venture, based on the Erdington Industrial Estate and has developed strong links with the Castle Vale area.

When not serving the residents of Erdington, Gareth enjoys time relaxing with friends and is very close to his family, many of whom still live in the Kingstanding area. He also enjoys activities such as a snooker and chess, and has a great love of comedy films, including the famous ‘Carry On’ series.

As well as Councillor for Erdington, Gareth is also a Governor for Short Heath Primary School and a Trustee of the Sir Josian Mason Trust.
